Research Activity
He conducts basic and clinical research primarily on the mechanisms of implantation and endometrial receptivity, including reproductive immunology and receptivity markers. His research focuses on the role of CRH in human reproduction and the study of recurrent implantation failures. His main achievement was the description of the mechanism by which trophoblast and decidual CRH immunomodulate the local immunity of maternal T-cells, facilitating implantation. This research resulted in a large volume of publications in scientific journals with a high impact factor (>5), as well as invitations to author scientific reviews in high-impact journals.
Due to the significant impact of his research, he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Human Reproduction, Philadelphia, USA, and senior scientist at the Imperial College School of Medicine, London, UK (1999-2001). To date, his total scientific activity includes 195 publications with 10,139 citations (Scopus) and an H-index of 50, as well as 8 books and 16 chapters. His wide recognition led to him being a reviewer for more than 15 scientific journals and receiving more than 10 national and international awards.
