Prof. Dr. Mina Popovic is a clinical embryologist with expertise in genetics and translational research. Her work bridges fundamental biology and clinical practice, with a focus on early human embryo development, chromosomal instability, implantation, and the molecular pathways that shape reproductive outcomes.
She is currently a Professor at the Department of Reproductive Medicine, Ghent University Hospital, Ghent Belgium, Immediate Past-Coordinator of ESHRE’s Special Interest Group Stem Cells and current member of the ESHRE Ethics Committee.
Dr. Popovic previously served as Scientific Director of the Eugin Group in Barcelona, where she led international research initiatives, secured major European grants, and established large-scale academic-industry collaborations. She has authored multiple high-impact publications and has contributed substantially to education and professional training in reproductive medicine.
She completed her undergraduate degree in Genetics and a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, and obtained her PhD from Ghent University, where her research focused on chromosomal instability in early human development. Prior to her doctoral training, she worked as a Senior Clinical Embryologist and Regional Laboratory Program Manager at Genea (formerly Sydney IVF) in Australia.
