Dr. Marcos Meseguer received his Biological Sciences degree from the University of Valencia, Spain. He completed a pre-doctoral fellowship at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester University, United Kingdom. He obtained an International Ph.D. in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the University of Valencia and a Master’s degree in Research Methods, Design, and Statistics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
He is currently Global Director of Embryology Research for the IVIRMA group and Senior Embryologist in the IVF Unit at IVI Valencia. Dr. Meseguer has twice received and been nominated for the Prize Paper of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), along with ten ASRM Star Awards. He has been awarded the Lalor Foundation International Award of the American Society of Andrology three times, the research award of the Spanish Fertility Society three times, and the research award of the Spanish Embryology Society seven times. He also received the Robert Edwards Prize Paper Award from RBM Online. His main research areas are embryology and male infertility.
As Principal Investigator, he has led 40 projects funded by the Spanish Government, including EUREKA and Horizon 2020 EUROSTARS projects supported by the European Community. He holds three international patents.
He is among the world’s most highly cited researchers according to Stanford University and has published over 225 scientific articles, with 17,500 citations and an h-index of 70, including the most cited paper in Human Reproduction. He has supervised 23 doctoral theses and is currently directing seven PhD candidates.
He is also Assistant Professor of Biotechnology at the University of Valencia.
