Humanitarian action projects
Our Foundation has launched various initiatives to offer support where it is most needed, whether by providing healthcare, training, resources or support. The aim is to strengthen communities in order to improve quality of life and make a real impact on the ground.
The Dexeus Mujer Foundation works to improve women’s health in communities where access to medical services is limited, offering specialised care and training programmes for local professionals. Through these initiatives, it helps to strengthen healthcare systems in the area and ensures that more women can receive quality care in a sustainable manner.
Cameroon 2025
The Dexeus Mujer Foundation strengthened its humanitarian action project in Cameroon in 2025, a programme launched in 2023 together with the Jean Félicien Gacha Foundation.
The new project, carried out in the rural district of Banganté, expanded the scope of the programme by offering free gynaecological surgery, specialised paediatric care and the incorporation of a reconstructive plastic surgeon in an area with very limited resources.
Project origin
The initiative arose in response to a critical health situation marked by high maternal and infant mortality, a lack of specialised care, poor hygienic and sanitary conditions, and severe economic difficulties that prevented the population from accessing essential treatments.
Healthcare and training
Since its inception, the project has combined medical care with training, working closely with local professionals to strengthen skills in complex gynaecological surgery and reinforce the region’s healthcare capacity. In 2023, surgical procedures were carried out in collaboration with the CUM, and in 2025 at Bangwa Hospital, which became the operational hub.
Results
By the end of 2025, the programme had achieved significant results: more than 170 major surgeries successfully performed, nearly 900 children treated in specialised paediatric consultations, and around 1,000 medical visits in gynaecology and paediatrics, along with a substantial improvement in surgical safety standards and hospital organisation.
The Dexeus Mujer Foundation remains committed to developing new humanitarian action projects to ensure the continuation of a sustainable, high-impact healthcare cooperation model in vulnerable communities.
Among the professionals involved were Dexeus Dona gynaecologists Dr. Pere Barri Soldevila, Dr. Alberto Rodríguez Melcón and Dr. Núria Barbany Freixa, along with residents Manuel Sánchez Prieto, Claudia Montero Carreras, Maria Pellisé Tintoré, Clara Platón, Eugenia Morillo and Berta Cortés. The team also included anaesthesiologists, surgical nurses, paediatricians, a plastic surgeon, a pathologist and a coordinator, reinforcing the multidisciplinary approach, essential to healthcare cooperation.

Madagascar 2016
In 2016, the Dexeus Mujer Foundation launched a humanitarian mission in Madagascar with the aim of providing specialised emergency medical care to the rural population in an area where there were many gynaecological conditions and few resources. The mission was carried out at the small St Vicent de Paul hospital in Ambatoabo.
The initiative was supported by the Hospital Universitari Dexeus and launched a crowdfunding campaign through migranodearena.org to raise funds to cover the cost of medicines, consumables and transport, which received great support.
